Public observer guide
Legitimacy artefacts are public. You do not need an officer login to check results, log chain integrity, roll commitments, or whether a tracker is included.
What you can check without logging in
| Page / artefact | What it shows |
|---|---|
| System hub | Institution name, fingerprint, public decision list, branding |
| Decision results | Outcome after tally, banners, high-level counts as published |
| Log verify | Hash chain head / recompute guidance for independent check |
| Tracker inclusion | Whether a tracker appears in the log (not the plaintext choice in Mode B) |
| Roll commitment | Eligible count and commitment root at vote open |
| Audit pack | Downloadable bundle for offline verifier CLI (when published) |
How to help a member verify
- They paste or open their tracker on the inclusion page
- Confirm found, log sequence, and entry hash — not “they voted X”
- Optionally open verify-log and compare system fingerprint to the institution’s published value
What observers cannot see (by design)
- Mode B plaintext choices before (and often after) open ceremony — depending on published transcript policy
- Private membership PII (legal names stay in the private admin store)
- Bind tokens or recovery secrets
